Released on 16 February 2010 for AMS Records / BTF label, “Il Pittore Volante” (The flying painter) is (the New) Raccomandata con Ricevuta di Ritorno’s comeback, thirty-six years after the previous band’s split up. The group has been reformed by the will of Luciano Regoli, with the participation of some of the original members.
Parallel to his musical career, Luciano has followed a career in painting, which led him to be today a respected and quoted Italian artist. Thus was born the album “Il Pittore Volante”, a synthesis of the various Regoli’s artistic experiences that, going back to the music, has researched for the sound and the friends of that era. The album has been recorded with the precious help of Nanni Civitenga (RRR, Samadhi), Roberto Gardin (RRR, Il Ritratto di Dorian Gray), Walter Martino (RRR, Goblin, Il Ritratto di Dorian Gray), Claudio Simonetti (Goblin, Il Ritratto di Dorian Gray) and, in addition to many other young musicians, of special guests like Lino Vairetti from Osanna, Nicola Di Staso from Libra and Carl Verheyen from Supertramp.
It’s a contemporary and deep progressive album, in step with the times and with the new schemes of the musical genre, but at the same time able to carry some of the RRR trademark sound which still many love and remember .
In addition to the CD release, there’s also a prestigious version for collectors, a limited edition boxset also including the record on LP, a copy of the book “Il Pittore Volante” (a sort of notebook written in years of traveling, with notes and thoughts on art which the album lyrics are inspired to) and an authentic unique work, a real LP-sized painting handmade by Regoli. A formula, that of this box, unique in the history of discography.
On 6 November 2010, La Nuova RRR has taken part to the Prog Exhibition festival in Rome, together with guest Thjis Van Leer (Focus). The two evenings were full of foreign artists and many important Italian prog-rock bands.
